Program Note

Completed September 10, 2010, this piece was premiered on my 2011 CD, Motets. 

Text painting and highly perfumed chromaticism characterize this work.  The first phrase came from a simple psalm setting from a few years earlier. A majority of the piece is homophonic, only to break into polyphony on the text "Open my lips, O Lord, and my mouth with proclaim Thy praise."
